Nice mouse, but all of its features not listed

I had been searching high and low for an inexpensive, wireless, Mac-compatible, 5 customizable button mouse with 4-way scrolling to replace an older wired Microsoft mouse that fit the bill. I stumbled across this mouse by accident in a big box store, and thought it might be what I needed. But I was immediately bamboozled by the odd packaging that doesn't list any features but the BlueTrack technology. (Gee, that's great that I can use it on carpet or granite, but I think I'll just stick to a mousepad, thanks.)

Not even a mention of it having 5 customizable buttons or 4-way scrolling. I could only assume. Reading the product description here, again, one is left to guess.

Thankfully, a super-helpful clerk in the store allowed me to open the package and test the mouse- and yes, indeed it DOES have 4-way scrolling and 5 customizable buttons. In various programs like Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro it's always been very important to me to have those extra buttons that I can assign oft-used functions to.

Just thought I'd point this out for anyone else who might be wondering about this mouse's full feature set and getting no answers from the oddly lacking product descriptions that abound.

Since buying this, I've found this mouse a joy to use. It feels pretty good in my hand (I have large hands) I've used it now for a few weeks of 8-hour work days (video editing) and found it very comfortable. The accuracy is very good, making it a good fit for everything from standard PC use, to photo and video editing.

And yes, the 5-buttons work great. The two buttons on either side don't get in the way during normal use as generally you'll be grasping the mouse just below them, but either can be clicked with just a gesture, making them good for assigning oft-used functions in your favorite applications. The scroll wheel is a user-programmable button as well. Be sure to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software for Mac or PC to take advantage of all the features and button customization. It's invaluable to me that IntelliPoint allows you to assign global settings or application-specific settings.

I highly recommend this mouse for people with larger hands, in need of an accurate (yet inexpensive) mouse with a pretty full feature set.
Great mouse!

I have a difficult time finding a comfortable mouse because my hands are big. This mouse fits perfectly. It's shape is more spherical than most others I've tried - more like holding a baseball.

I'm using it on my Mac as a replacement for the Apple Mighty Mouse because the Mighty Mouse felt too small in my hand. First I tried plugging it in without loading the included software but the Mac was confused, thinking I had just plugged in a second keyboard. After loading the software however, everything works perfectly.

The optical technology works fine even on my smooth gray plastic-laminate desktop and the scroll wheel is butter smooth with no ratcheting feel at all.

Great product!
Supermouse from Microsoft!

This is a great little mouse compared to the "ergonomic" lump I was using. This one is smooth, quick and responsive....oh, and a lot less expensive! I found I needed to go by comfort and what felt right for me rather than thinking that any mouse under $50 was not going to be any good. This one is built solid. It is a little heavy after putting the batteries in, but thats okay, I don't plan on carrying it around alot :) The tracking is perfect. It works on just about any surface except clear glass.
Kinda bulky but works great.

First off this mouse works perfectly. The scroll is smooth..one of softest most butter smooth scroll wheels i've ever seen. The buttons are nice and big and the price is absolutely awesome. I first went with a wireless mouse about 2 years ago (Logitech LX7..that recently died) and after going wireless there really is no going back. The shape of this mouse is kinda bulky in my smaller hands but the precision and smoothness of the scrolling wheel outmatch my previous Logitech. I use this on a mouse pad but the BlueTrack Technology is nice to have. I would say so far that the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 feels very solid...not necessarily cheap or expensive really..just solid. Highly Recommended.
***** Nice Wireless Mouse at a reasonable Price *****

This is a full size mouse, I have a large hand, and it feels very comfortable to use, however, I'm not sure how it will feel in a smaller hand. It works on virtually any surface with very good accuracy, it is very smooth, and the range is excellent. This is by far the best wireless mouse I've used. I think this mouse is intended for a desk top use (it is a bit too large to be "portable"), if you are looking for a mouse to use with a laptop, you may want a smaller one to carry around. I have my laptop hooked to a big screen, and I use this mouse with a wireless Keyboard at home.
It would be nice if it came with rechargeable batteries, but with eight months battery life (as claimed by Microsoft), it is not bad.
Solid wireless mouse

I bought this mouse at a local retailer before it was available on Amazon.com. I selected it because it was the least expensive, full-size, name brand, wireless mouse at the store. But I am really surprised how much I like it! It has a very solid feel and incredibly smooth movement and scrolling.
Outstanding Ability To Read On Most Any Surface.

I keep getting wired laser mice that the cords eventually twist and break. They also aren't that great on all surfaces since I surf in bed and use my brown comforter as a mouse pad. I have to say, I am very surprised on how this mouse can work on just about any color or type of surface, being my thigh, or sheet or pillow no matter the material. I find it comfortable and the software was easy to install on Vista. For those that say it feels cheap, I have dropped it out of bed numerous times and it still works like day one. The most amazing thing, I use this mouse daily and almost never put the USB piece in the bottom to turn it off. I am at 2 months and still haven't changed the batteries!
